Last Update: March 2026
This concept is my idea to transform Oaks Amusement Park into a theme park that is centered around the concept of the Trolley Park and the history of Portland and its surrounding areas.
The concept begins with access to the park, which would be transformed by way of a restored interurban trolley. Access would utilize the historic Springwater Rail Corridor which is currently being utilized by the Oregon Rail Heritage Center.
Parking would shift away from the current site, and would instead transfer to a parking garage located at the current, but soon to be relocated, OLCC warehouse and distribution Center located at 9079 SE McLoughlin Blvd, Milwaukie, OR 97222. There is also close proximity to the SE Tacoma/Johnson Creek Transit Station.
Other access would be by way of Transit Access with a trolley station at the Oregon Rail Heritage Center, which is next to the OMSI/SE Water Ave transit station.
There are bus bays for other transit access and shuttles buses.
Front Avenue
The entry to Oaks Park would be Front Avenue which is reported as the first street in Portland. In this entry portal, there are miniature recreations of local cast iron building fronts.
This entry would have the primary guest services, and shop and eatery options which are curated to feature local time period inventory and culinary options.
I have also recreated the entry gate to Oaks Park which has been removed from the entry as of my last visit.

Timber Falls & Gold Rush, Oregon
These are two intertwined lands whose stories focus on the themes of deforestation and exploitive mining from the turn of the century.

The Boardwalk
The Boardwalk Features recreations of previous structures that used to exist at Oaks Park. This includes the Windmill, which will be suspended dark ride themed to Oregon's Seven Wonders. The other recreated Structure is the Spanish Style Structure which houses the bumber-cars, and the entry to the go-carts. This area is essentially a themed midway, which will have two additional dark rides and access to the roller rink. Note the addition of the historic lamp posts which used to be located at Oaks Park.
Electric Park
This area includes repainted and refurbished attractions that already exists at Oaks Park. The concept would see the addition of a lighting and paint package that is more specific to a turn of the century Trolley Park.

Oak Grove
This area features a boat ride called the Mystic River, which meanders through the dense canopy of existing oaks trees.
Chippers Forest
This is the primary themed area for young children. The space includes ample seating for parents and guardians.
In this concept, the carousel is refurbished and moved to this area where it sits at the end of The Boardwalk, adjacent to the roller rink.
